Natural Remedies - Healing with Medicinal Herbs

Yo-yo dieting

Yo-yo dieting, also called weight cycling, is the repeated pattern of losing weight on a strict diet and regaining it — often with interest — once the diet ends. Crash diets slow the metabolism and break down muscle, so after the diet the body stores energy more readily than before. Beyond the frustration, repeated cycles strain the heart and hormones and undermine trust in one's own body.

The natural way out is not a stricter diet, but steady habits the body can maintain for life.

Self-Help Measures

  • Aim to lose no more than about half a kilogram per week — slow loss spares muscle and is far more likely to last
  • Do not skip meals; eat regular meals built around vegetables, protein and whole grains that keep you full for hours
  • Drink a glass of water before each meal and eat slowly — satiety needs about twenty minutes to register
  • Bitter herbs such as dandelion or gentian tea before meals support digestion and help curb cravings for sweets
  • Green tea gently supports metabolism as a replacement for sugary drinks
  • Build muscle with simple strength exercises twice a week — muscle is the engine that burns calories at rest
  • Sleep seven to eight hours; short sleep raises hunger hormones the very next day
  • Track habits rather than only the scale: steps walked, vegetables eaten, alcohol-free days

Note

If your weight swings strongly despite stable habits, or if eating is accompanied by feelings of loss of control, talk to a doctor or nutrition specialist.
