NEURALGIA - DESCRIPTION

Neuralgia is a disease that is manifested by an attack of pain in the course of the entire nerve or in some of its branches, but without visible anatomical changes. The nerves of the face, ribs and back are most often affected. The causes can be very different: inflammation, swelling that presses on the nerve, alcohol and metal poisoning, stress, mental strain, but there is always a strain on the nerve. Neuralgias manifest as penetrating, short-lived, but frequent pain.

Diseases that are particularly associated with this condition are neuritis and polyneuritis. The main causes of neuralgia, neuritis and polyneuritis are nerve damage, abnormally developed nerve or viral infections. These diseases can be exacerbated by the effects of dangerous substances such as alcohol and cigarettes, certain medications, especially those used to treat HIV, and diseases such as diabetes and uremia.
