TENDINITIS - DESCRIPTION


Tendons are the connective tissue that transmits muscle effort to the bones, and tendinitis is an inflammation of the tendon sheath. Tendonitis can occur after excessive exertion or as a result of tendon strain. It can be associated with frequent movements at work, some unusual movement, or excessive sports training. This inflammation can be caused by an injury or is of a rheumatic nature, and can last from one week to six months. Symptoms include severe pain in the wrist or leg, limited joint mobility, extension of pain to the entire arm or leg, and waking up due to pain during the night.


SELF-HELP MEASURES

- At the first sign of tendinitis, do not use the affected arm or leg
- Place a bag of ice cubes on the affected area
- Use a strong bandage
- Tincture of meadowsweet, hot peppers and turmeric to treat inflammation and pain
- Use nutmeg and yellow sweet clover for compresses and to add to baths
- Take a feverfew to relieve pain
- If possible, perform physiotherapy
